My relationship with "art" is complicated. For a lot of years I've been doing creative things and I've been comfortable calling what I make "crafts", but calling the stuff I make "art" has felt too pretentious and far above my level of skill.
But when I look around my spaces and see things I've created decorating those spaces, and when I make gifts for people by pouring my love and care for them into a creation, "art" feels appropriate. So I'm trying to lean into that, to let the things I make be art, and to embrace art and creation as a form of resistance to the capitalist idea that everything we do must be productive. I like to make art because it's pretty and whimsical and makes me feel good, but I also make way way more art than I know what to do with.
I'm excited to have a place to share the silly, joyous things I make.
Thanks for helping me make stuff, friends.
